On the 9th of May 2026, I had the privilege of participating in the official allocation exercise at Palmrich Farm, Ewekoro, Ogun State. What made the experience particularly memorable was that it was not merely about land allocation. It was an opportunity to witness a growing movement around Agro Real Estate Investment in Nigeria and the possibilities it holds for sustainable development, food security, and long-term wealth creation.

It is exiting as a researcher who was among the early scholars on the emergence of Large-scale Agricultural Land Investments (LALIs) in Africa. It was indeed marriage of theoretical knowledge with practical insights. I have also produced doctoral graduates who worked in this real linking it to different aspect such as food security, household livelihood, climate change, among others (SEE).

The journey to the estate itself was engaging and reflective. Discussing with other investors and landlords created an atmosphere of shared expectation and excitement. Throughout the trip, conversations naturally evolved around investment opportunities, agriculture, the future of real estate in Nigeria, and the importance of strategic agricultural land investment (ownership) in emerging development corridors such as Ewekoro in Ogun State. It was encouraging to meet people from diverse professional backgrounds who all shared a common belief in the future potential of agro based communities and integrated farm estates.

Beyond the investment discussions, the journey also created a sense of community. There is something unique about visiting a project site together with people who are equally invested in a common vision. The networking, exchange of ideas, and collective anticipation added a human dimension to the experience. It reminded me that meaningful investments are often strengthened by relationships, trust, and shared aspirations.

Arriving at Palmrich Farm offered a clearer appreciation of the vision behind the project. The environment reflects a blend of agricultural promise and strategic planning. The location within Ewekoro presents strong developmental potential, especially considering the increasing interest in agro real estate and the growing recognition of agriculture as a viable component of economic diversification in Nigeria.

Walking through the allocated sections and observing the ongoing developments brought a sense of fulfilment and optimism. For many investors present, it was a moment of transition from expectation to reality. Allocation exercises often appear administrative from a distance, but physically standing on allocated land creates a much deeper connection to the investment journey.

The experience also brought back memories of the insightful engagements earlier this year at the Africa’s Agro Real Estate Development Summit 2026 (AARED 2026). The summit gathered thought leaders, developers, investors, academics, and practitioners to discuss the future of agro real estate across the continent. Many of the ideas discussed during the summit became even more meaningful during the Palmrich Farm visit.

One major takeaway from the summit was the growing importance of integrating agriculture, real estate, sustainability, and community development into one coherent investment framework. Seeing projects like Palmrich Farm reinforces the relevance of those conversations and demonstrates that agro real estate is steadily moving from concept to practical implementation.

Another notable aspect of the allocation exercise was the professionalism demonstrated throughout the process. Coordinating investors, ensuring transparency in allocation, and maintaining effective communication are critical elements in building confidence within the real estate sector. In this regard, the management team handled the exercise commendably.

I would like to sincerely appreciate Assetrise for their commitment and professionalism. Special recognition goes to the Group Managing Director (GMD), Mr Oluwadurotimi E. Ojamamoye, whose leadership continues to inspire confidence in innovative real estate initiatives. It is always encouraging to see alumni of Covenant University contributing meaningfully to national development through enterprise and innovation.

I also deeply appreciate Mr David Segun, my realtor, whose consistent follow up, guidance, and responsiveness made the entire process smooth and reassuring. In every investment journey, trusted professionals play an important role in helping investors navigate decisions with confidence, and his support throughout the process is highly appreciated.

As Nigeria continues to explore new pathways for economic growth and sustainability, agro real estate stands out as a promising sector capable of combining investment value with agricultural productivity and community development. My experience at Palmrich Farm was therefore more than a site allocation exercise. It was a reminder that strategic investments, when connected to vision and purpose, can contribute not only to personal growth but also to broader societal progress.
